There are sexual assault support services all across New Zealand. You don’t need a referral to make an appointment at a clinic, and they provide their services free of charge. You’ll find a list of clinics across the country in our directory.

Safe to talk

The Safe to talk national helpline is available 24/7. It provides confidential, non-judgemental support to anyone in Aotearoa who has experienced sexual harm. Safe to talk’s trained specialists can provide information, answer questions, and put you in touch with support services in your community.

Shine

Shine is a specialist domestic violence agency, whose mission is to stop family violence in New Zealand. Shine works closely with a number of government agencies, community organisations and businesses to provide a range of services to adults and children experiencing abuse.

The Are You OK? website provides information for people seeking support for family violence in New Zealand. Their goal is to help people across the country understand unsafe behaviours in their relationships and access support safely.

Women’s Refuge

Women’s Refuge provides support and information to women dealing with family violence and abuse. They can help you make choices about your safety, advocate on your behalf, and refer you to counsellors, doctors, lawyers and other support services across Aotearoa.

Shama Ethnic Women’s Trust

Shama is an ethnic women’s trust based in Hamilton, although they work with women all over Aotearoa. Their goal is to provide support and advocacy to help empower all ethnic women, their children and their families. They provide specialist support for women experiencing violence, and understand that the challenges ethnic women face are complex and unique.
