About the MEDSAC community
Our community is made up of both clinical and non-clinical professionals, who can join as either an affiliate or associate, depending on their role. It includes:
doctors, nurse practitioners and nurses working within Sexual Abuse Assessment and Treatment Services (SAATS), or Non-fatal Strangulation and Suffocation Assessment Services (NFSSAS)
non-clinical professionals working in a SAATS or NFSSAS service
paediatricians, and
Police Medical Officers (PMOs).
The community also welcomes:
people working in the wider sexual assault care community – like ED, A&M and GP clinics, for example
specialist crisis support professionals, such as counsellors, psychologists and psychotherapists
clinician and non-clinician professionals abroad, like Australia-based FAMSACA members
other professionals working in the sexual violence prevention and intervention sector.
The skills, experience, competence and diversity our affiliates and associates bring to the MEDSAC community provides the best training, mentoring and professional peer support available. Being part of the community also allows access to a wide range of MEDSAC benefits, including:
the MEDSAC manual
eLearning
forums, and
publications and resources.

What our community says
It’s an awesome service. Really appreciate the support. It's the only truly collegial network I have worked with. Us newer doctors coming through have fantastic support.
Community member.Invaluable discussions and sharing of “tips and tricks of the trade”.
SAATS Lead Clinicians update attendee. Thanks so much for your feedback. I get so much great advice every time I do a formal statement. I don’t think they can be much better and then I get a heap of great feedback.
