Training details

In-person 2-day training for clinicians who are joining a local SAATS roster - a combination of practical and theory sessions.

The course consists of online pre-learning, two face-to-face workshop days and online post-learning.

Pre-learning: 12 hours - On demand eLearning - Available prior to F2F days

Face to face: 2 days 8am-5pm (approx.) Hands-on practical group work, Court session, presentations, Nurses' practical session, Q&A - Friday 8th & Saturday 9th May 2026
Post-learning: 5 hours - On demand eLearning - Available after the face-to-face days

In order to access a funded place on this course, each clinician must be:
1. A current clinical practitioner
2. Supported by a local Sexual Abuse Assessment and Treatment Service (SAATS) in Aotearoa/New Zealand
3. Intending to participate in the local sexual assault roster.

MEDSAC will assess the Expressions of Interest and may give priority to areas with the greatest need for trained doctors and/or nurses.

Consideration will also be given to self-funded doctors/nurses who wish to learn more about the medical management of sexual assault but are not planning to join a SAATS.
